Somewhere, Maybe Here was my first unexpected foray into clown. A performance that emerged in fits and bursts between 2015 and 2022: an exploration of connection and play through unexpected encounters. It asked the question: what can happen when we are really here with one another?

The piece revolves around a 27-minute silent film following a fallen angel arriving to a strange city: Berlin. After a psychogeography research process identifying places we resonated with and wanted to play in in the city, we filmed the angel’s live, unplanned encounters with the people there.

The film embedded itself into a performance: with two personas/clowns arriving to a place to share this angel film with a live audience, accompanied by live piano. We filmed the clowns arriving in this place: an echo of the angel. You can see the arrival to Eibar in the Basque Country in 2019, below.
